UNION CITY – The Mississinawa Lady Blackhawks bowling team broke the 2,000 pin mark for the first time this year in a win over Ansonia, 2,053–1,641, at Woodcrest Lanes.
“We are a very young team, and we improving every week,” Mississinawa Valley girls bowling coach Mike Warren said.
The Hawks lost a heartbreaker by two pins a few weeks ago to Fort Loramie and finally broke through on Saturday with the win against their rival down the road.
“Tiffany Westfall and Spencer Warren are two returning bowlers from last year, and they have helped guide the new girls and our improvement has been noticeable,” Coach Warren said.
“We expect to be competitive the rest of the year,” Warren added.
Spencer Warren rolled a game high 183 for the Blackhawks while Peyton Reichard had a 159, Tiffany Westfall 157, Tabitha Richards 152 and Kayla Harris 145.
Ansonia bowler Madison Stover rolled a high game of 155, Katlynn Yeagle had a 117, Meghan Wilson a 95, Jordan Campbell 93, Rose Swanson 90, Molly Walls 88, Rebecca Thornhill 83 and Audrey Kelly 76.
The Blackhawks go to 1-5 overall and 1-4 in the conference and will be in action on Saturday when they take on Russia at Minster Community Lanes.
Ansonia fell to 0-5 in the conference and 1-6 overall. The Tigers are back in action on Saturday as well at Community Lanes in Minster where they will take on Fort Lormie.
