Reid Health’s first baby: A new Lincoln for 2016

RICHMOND, Ind. – Reid Health’s first baby of 2016 didn’t arrive until Jan. 3, but he was still early. Lincoln Alexander Holcomb was born to Sheyenne Larsh and Brian Holcomb of Richmond at 6:26 p.m. Sunday.

Lincoln, who weighed 6 pounds, 12 ounces and was 19 and a half inches long, wasn’t expected until a scheduled Cesarean section delivery on January 6.

“He was just ready to come and meet the big world,” said Sheyenne.

Lincoln’s family also includes big sister, Mercedes, age 10, and big brother, Wyatt, age two.

The family shared that Lincoln’s paternal grandmother was born on New Year’s Day in Connersville in the mid-60s, so New Year’s babies run in the family. Lincoln was given gift baskets from Reid Health containing diapers, blankets and many other items needed by a newborn baby.

Wyatt wasn’t too interested in his new brother. Flirting with the nurses and seeking out potato chips with his grandmother was higher on his priority list. But Mercedes enjoyed a visit with Lincoln and was very attentive to his facial expressions.

“Mercedes is thrilled with her new brother,” said Brian.

“We knew the baby was a boy,” said Brian. “I am happy he is healthy—and that he has a lot of hair.”

Sheyenne noted,“This labor and delivery was much easier than my last one.”

She was on bedrest for a month prior to Wyatt’s birth and he was at Riley for his first four weeks.

Sheyenne is a stay-at-home mom and Brian works at Neaton Auto in Eaton, Ohio. Mom hopes to return to work in a couple of months after recuperating from her C-section.

“I am very happy with my daughter and two sons,” said Sheyenne. “But I might want to try for another girl in the future.”
