Tow truck driver injured in crash

GREENVILLE — A Greenville man driving a tow truck was seriously injured in a two-vehicle collision Tuesday morning, according to Greenville Police.

According to the police report, John R. Ross, 55, of Greenville, was eastbound on West Main Street at 7:36 a.m.when he attempted to turn left onto Sycamore and struck the westbound tow truck driven by Matthew H. Dillion, 46, of Greenville. Dillion’s vehicle then proceeded to strike a utility pole.

Dillion was transported by Greenville Area Emergency Rescue Service to Wayne HealthCare Emergency Room with injuries listed as “incapacitating.”

Ross, who was not injured, was cited for failure to yield while turning left.

The Ross vehicle, a 2010 Chevy Impala, sustained functional damage in the crash. The 2005 Ford F-350 tow truck had disabling damage.
