Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and you might want to think of something unique for the gardener in your life.

For the gal, the usual gifts have been a garden apron, set of three planters, garden trowels, and plant markers. She might not want the standard flowers and chocolates for Valentine’s Day. She wants something special and different …so put some thought into it. She’s a gardener but has received her share of gardening gloves. The ones with the Ladybugs and Butterflies you have given in the past are cute but she really doesn’t need six or seven pairs of gardening gloves. And, she probably doesn’t need another kneeling pad so what are you going to give her on the most romantic day of the year?

Try something new by giving her a garden theme gift. Instead of that bouquet of flowers make your own centerpiece using packets of seeds you purchased for the 2016 growing season. Go outside and get a branch that has either fallen from the tree or give that tree an early trim with a branch to put in a flower pot and add the seed packets on different branches.

When she’s done enjoying the craft centerpiece she can plant the seeds this spring. By her planting the seeds, she will be doing what she loves.

If you want to give a much appreciated gift, reward her with a spa day with essential oils in preparation of getting outside in the spring.

Guys tend to be a bit harder to shop for. He really doesn’t need another hammer or screw driver. He might like a new power tool. No matter how good his power tools are, he won’t use them if he can’t find them. An organizer for those tools would be a good gift. What about a leaf shredder, or even a garden hammock?

So, February is the time of year when all good gardeners start to ache for spring, when we can finally get outside and start planting. If your loved one is a planner or a dreamer, help your sweetie make the most of the cold weather and look forward to a wonderful spring garden.
