GREENVILLE — Two Greenville women sit behind bars at the Darke County Jail following a drug bust conducted just after noon on Wednesday.

Officers from the Greenville City Police Department, in coordination with other law enforcement agencies, arrested Stephanie Lyn Brandeberry, 54, and Deborah Sue Fornshil, 52.

Both women face multiple felony charges, including trafficking heroin as well as dealing drugs within 1,000 feet of a school — in this instance, near Greenville Junior High School, which was temporarily locked down during the operation for the safety of staff and students. Police notified school officials prior to the arrests.

According to police reports, the arrests were the result of an ongoing investigation, using covert drug buy operations. The women reportedly obtained the heroin in Dayton, and transported the drug back for sale in Greenville.

Officers arrested Fornshil at the corner of Wayne Avenue and Armstrong Street in Greenville. Brandeberry was apprehended at the corner of Wayne Avenue and Cypress Street.

In relation to the two arrests, cash, empty baggies and various items of drug paraphernalia were found during the execution of a search warrant at a residence at 208 North Harrison Avenue in Greenville.

At the residence, a third person was questioned, but released.

Greenville Police Chief Dennis L. Butts said, “Drugs, in one way or another, effect almost everyone in this community. We encourage anyone with information to contact the Greenville Police Department [937-548-1103]. We also encourage anyone with addiction issues to seek treatment. If anyone in the community doesn’t know where to seek help, we can assist with that information also.”

“If we all work together we can make the City of Greenville the best community it can be by making it as drug free as we can,” he added.

Brandeberry and Fornshil remain incarcerated, awaiting arraignment in Darke County Common Pleas Court.
