Ohioans to be bombarded with anti-Trump commercials

WASHINGTON – One of the most vocal groups opposing Donald Trump is pelting Ohioans with $1 million in commercials over the next five days.

They’re paid for by Our Principles PAC, a collection of wealthy donors and GOP strategists who want to keep the controversial New York businessman from becoming the party’s presidential nominee.

The new ads attack Trump as a jobs outsourcer. Indeed, as Trump has acknowledged, some of his products been made in countries such as China.

“We’re doing many, many deals outside of the United States,” the ad shows Trump saying at a debate this month. The commercial also shows a clip of Trump lamenting the erosion of American manufacturing as it tries to build the case that he’s a hypocrite.

“The point here is to educate people on how Trump hurts regular people while enriching himself,” said Tim Miller, a spokesman for Our Principles.

The group also is spending $2 million in Florida, according to advertising tracker Kantar Media’s CMAG. Florida, where Trump rival Marco Rubio is a senator, and Ohio, where candidate John Kasich is governor, both weigh in Tuesday on the Republican race.

Our Principles is supplementing its air war with voter calls and mail. All told, the group has spent more than $8 million so far on its efforts.
