Bradford’s Cheyenne Parke wins powerlifting state championship

KENTON – Cheyenne Parke won her second state championship when the Bradford powerlifting team competed at the state meet on Saturday at Kenton High School.

The Bradford girls placed fifth as a team and the Bradford boys placed ninth at the state powerlifting meet. There were 524 lifters on Saturday, which Bradford coach Greg Hale said was the most in his 29 years going to the state meet.

Parke won the girls 115 pound class, making her a two-time state champion.

The second best finish for Bradford came from Rebekah Lavey, who finished third in the girls unlimited class at the state meet. Also for the Bradford girls, Rachel Lavey finished fifth in the girls unlimited class.

The top finish for the Bradford boys came from Daryen Booker, who placed fourth in the boys 185 pound class. Bradford’s Brandon Mitchell finished eighth in the boys 185 pound class.

Bryson Canan placed eighth in the boys 155 pound class for Bradford. Also for the Railroaders, Dylan Cassel finished 11th in the boys 175 pound class.
