Union City News: Science Olympiad team honored

0

The Union City Lions Club started the month of March with its regular meeting. The lasagna prepared by Vicki and Allen was wonderful as usual.

The program for the evening was the Union City High School Science Olympiad Team. The team is sponsored by the Union City Lions Club. The team traveled to Butler University in Indianapolis on Feb. 27. They competed in 23 science-related events and placed in the top 5 in four of those events. They shared some of the things that they built for the competition. They showed us the robot arm, the rubber band airplane, the electric vehicle, the balsa wood bridge, and air trajectory. The team is coached by Lion Blake Clevenger. Congratulations to the Science Olympiad Team.

Union City Lions Club Pancake Day is April 9, 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Union City Elks Club.

Union City Plein Air Group meets every Monday morning at the Strock-Wasson Gallery 324 Oak St., Union City, Indiana, at 9 a.m. during the winter months, and 8 a.m. when weather is more suitable. Any artist or budding artist is welcome to join the group. You can use any medium you prefer. During the warmer months, the group departs for a destination to paint a picture of a landscape or barn or area.

As Union City has become a community of arts, antiques and volunteers, together you can make a difference. What have you done for your community this week?
