Versailles girls track and field team finishes 2nd in Lady Tiger Classique

VERSAILLES – The Versailles girls began the 2016 track and field season with a runner up finish in their Lady Tiger Classique on Saturday.

With 119 points, Versailles placed second in the Black Division of the Lady Tiger Classique, finishing behind champion Minster with its 202 points. New Bremen finished third in the Black Division with 104 points, West Liberty-Salem placed fourth with 87, St. Henry finished fifth with 75, Houston finished sixth with 39, Arcanum placed seventh with 25, Crestview finished eighth with six, and Versailles B was ninth with five points.

Russia won the Orange Division championship with 155.5 points. Marion Local finished as the runner up with 113 points, Covington placed third with 95, Ansonia was fourth with 76.5, Botkins finished fifth with 75, Spencerville placed sixth with 58, Newton finished seventh with 34, Bradford was eighth with 31, and New Knoxville finished ninth with nine.

Ansonia finished seventh in the Orange 4×800 meter relay in 12:41.96.

Versailles finished third in the Black 4×800 meter relay in 10:56.02, Versailles B finished sixth in 11:22.87, and Arcanum finished seventh in 11:47.79.

Ansonia sophomore Bailey Stammen finished eighth in the Orange 100 meter hurdles with a time of 19.65.

Versailles sophomore Ellen Peters finished third in the Black 100 meter hurdles in 18.37, Versailles junior Abigail White finished seventh in 19.08, and Versailles sophomore Dana Rose finished eighth in 19.33.

Ansonia junior Lydia Sink finished third in the Orange 100 meter dash in 13.77.

Versailles junior Jenna Frantz finished third in the Black 100 meter dash in 13.80.

Versailles finished third in the Black 4×200 meter relay with a time of 1:55.37, and Arcanum finished seventh in 2:10.56.

Bradford freshman Karmen Knepp finished fifth in the Orange 1,600 meter run in a time of 5:43.90.

Versailles freshman Kara Spitzer finished third in the Black 1,600 meter run with a time of 5:47.79.

Ansonia won the Orange 4×100 meter relay with a time of 55.32, and Bradford finished seventh in 66.65.

Versailles won the Black 4×100 meter relay in a time of 52.75, and Arcanum finished eighth in 62.26.

Ansonia sophomore Aliya Barga finished fifth in the Orange 400 meter dash with a time of 67.46.

Versailles junior Emily Langenkamp finished fifth in the Black 400 meter dash in 66.47.

Ansonia sophomore Bailey Stammen finished seventh in the Orange 300 meter hurdles with a time of 57.59.

Versailles sophomore Ellen Peters finished second in the Black 300 meter hurdles in a time of 49.85, , Versailles sophomore Dana Rose finished sixth in 54.07, and Versailles junior Abigail White finished eighth in 56.39.

Bradford freshman Karmen Knepp finished fourth in the Orange 800 meter run in 2:40.05.

Versailles senior Madison Grilliot finished sixth in the Black 800 meter run with a time of 2:45.93, and Versailles B freshman Tori Schulze finished seventh in 2:46.28.

Versailles junior Camille Watren won the Black 200 meter dash in a meet record time of 26.43, breaking a record of 26.70 that had stood since 2003. Versailles freshman Liz Watren finished sixth in 28.78.

Versailles freshman Kara Spitzer finished fourth in the Black 3,200 meter run in a time of 12:35.85.

Bradford finished fifth in the Orange 4×400 meter relay with a time of 4:40.88, and Ansonia finished sixth in 4:48.32.

Versailles won the Black 4×400 meter relay with a time of 4:16.82, and Arcanum finished seventh in 5:09.32.

Bradford senior Mackenzie Weldy finished seventh in the Orange shot put with a throw of 32 feet 2.25 inches.

Arcanum senior Erica Zimmer won the Black shot put with a toss of 38 feet 8.85 inches, and Arcanum senior Michaela McGaffic finished sixth with a throw of 31 feet.

Ansonia senior Jerica Thwaits was the runner up in the Orange discus throw with a throw of 93 feet 4 inches, and Bradford senior Mackenzie Weldy finished fifth with a throw of 83 feet 11 inches.

Arcanum senior Erica Zimmer finished fourth in the Black discus throw with a throw of 97 feet 8 inches, Versailles junior Lindsey Didier finished fifth with a throw of 95 feet 10 inches, and Versailles junior Brittney Hiestand finished seventh with a throw of 88 feet 4 inches.

Ansonia sophomore Bailey Stammen finished second in the Orange long jump with a jump of 15 feet 9.75 inches, Ansonia junior Lydia Sink finished third with a jump of 15 feet 9 inches, and Bradford sophomore Maia Stump finished sixth with a jump of 14 feet 10 inches.

Versailles junior Jenna Frantz was the runner up in the Black long jump with a jump of 15 feet 4 inches, and Versailles junior Kari Kueterman finished sixth with a jump of 12 feet 8.5 inches.

Ansonia junior Lydia Sink won the Orange high jump by clearing 5 feet 1 inch, and Ansonia sophomore Aliya Barga finished fourth by clearing 4 feet 10 inches.

Versailles sophomore Jorja Pothast finished seventh in the Black high jump by clearing 4 feet 4 inches.

Bradford senior Kelly Moore and Ansonia junior Stefani Garrett tied for second place in the Orange pole vault by clearing 8 feet while Ansonia sophomore Amber Aultman finished fourth by clearing 7 feet.

Versailles junior Jenna Frantz won the Black pole vault by clearing 11 feet.
