Ansonia baseball team loses CCC opener to Bethel

XENIA – The Ansonia baseball team lost 6-1 to Bethel in a Cross County Conference game at Athletes in Action on Monday afternoon.

Ansonia struck first with a run in the top half of the first, but Bethel tied the game in the bottom half of the inning and took a 4-1 lead in the second. The Bees added an insurance run in both the fourth and fifth innings.

Ansonia had one hit and two errors on the day while Bethel had seven hits and no errors.

Lane Clark was 1-for-3 with a double and a RBI for Ansonia. Dane Wentworth walked once, stole a base and scored a run.

Kane Kimmel was charged with the loss as he pitched four innings and allowed four earned runs and one unearned run on four hits, three walks, one hit batter and four strikeouts. Wentworth pitched two innings in relief and allowed one earned run on three hits and two walks.

Ansonia fell to 0-2 with the loss. The Tigers will play host to Houston on Friday.
