NEW BREMEN – The Bradford softball team defeated another Midwest Athletic Conference team on Monday, beating New Bremen 9-6.

It was New Bremen taking the early lead with a leadoff double then holding Bradford in the bottom half of the inning. But it didn’t take long before the train got rolling.

Tori Smith struck out the side for Bradford then Haley Rosengarten started off a five-run inning for the Railroaders. Followed by hits from Emily Huggins, Chelsea Gill and Amanda Brewer, Ciara Yohey added a sac fly flowed by Bailey Wysong’s single.

“We had timely hits with runners in scoring positions today,” Bradford coach Shon Schaffer said. “The girls really stepped up at the plate.”

Later on in the fourth a leadoff single by Olivia Hart produced another run when Smith laid down a sac bunt.

“These girls are selfless,” Schaffer said. “They understand sac outs score runs, and runs are how we win.”

Putting it away in the sixth Gill started off the inning with a hit followed by a double by Yohey, a single by Hart then another double by Wysong.

Also recording hit in the game was freshman Lilly Elleman.

Bradford improved to 2-0 with the win.
