New Madison News: Legion replacing old flags

0

Old glory was never more important than in these days of threat and tension. The American Legion, Laroy Farst Post #245 has made the commitment to replace the worn flags that are used for patriotic days. The red, white and blue lining our Main street is a reminder of spirit and sacrifice.

The Legion is asking community support in financing this effort. You may see canisters around the village and you are also welcome to send a donation. Helping the Legion keep our national flag unfurled and welcoming visitors to New Madison is a cause to consider seriously.

Tri-Village students are back at work and ready for the final two months of academic work. The baseball team enjoyed a few days in Florida. They played two double headers in Vero Beach and now will face the fast paced schedule of spring baseball.

Those children starting school adventures with kindergarten are currently being registered. Contact the elementary office if your child will be five years old by Aug. 1.

The school’s drama club will have lots of participation in May. The cast for “The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood” has been announced. Students will appear May 6, 7 and 8. The cast includes: Bailey Dotson, senior; Paige Sloan, junior; Makenzie Stucky, sophomore; Jenna Coffman, junior; Emma Campbell, sophomore; Chas Collins, junior; Jacquline Gibboney, freshman; Elijah Driver, eighth; Kina Hill, sophomore; Morgan Singer, seventh; Chloe Sowry, seventh; McKenna Anderson, seventh; Kyrie Braun, sophomore; Allison Ricker, freshman; Cassandra Gibboney, sophomore; Kirsten Meier, eighth.

Congratulations this week to the American Legion and the success of the week day breakfasts. Serving is 7 to 10 a.m. and the morning crowd is enjoying the talk and coffee as well as the breakfast menu.
