Union City News: Art show nets numerous awards

The Art Association of Randolph County held its opening reception the evening of March 24 at the historic Arts Depot in Union City, Indiana.

Awards include: Best of Show “Siren” by Sontina Reid Hall; Barb Landess-Gentry Award, Best Watercolor “Night Reflection” by James Weaver; the Tri Kappa Award for best Indiana/Ohio Scene “Ladies Who Lunch” by Marcia Weidner; Best Emerging Artist, Stanley Garrett.

Professional awards went to Marlene Fosnight for “Polyhedron;” Jane Roestamadji “Doorway To Me;” and Lynn Orr “Time.” Professional Awards of Excellence were awarded to Mary Ellen Bertram for “Morning Glory;” Selena Burk for “Shakespeare;” Patrick Kluesner for “Imari Vase in Blue;” Cari Prinkey for “Dahlia;” Leslie Liszak for “Forgotten;” R. L. Lathrop for “Roadside Shadow;” R. L. Lathrop for “Creek Bed Early Fall;” Rochelle Martin for “No One Answered;” Beverly Mills for “Mr. Grimball;”; Carol Sexton for “Leafy Swirl;” Joe Halberstadt “Untitled;” Maureen Miller for “Simpler Time.”

Amateur awards of Excellence were awarded to Stanley Garrett for “Time Gone By;” “Feed & Grain” and “Ashley;” John Monroe for “Flying or Floating” and “Evolution;” Raeann LaFuze for “White Boots;” Larry Sturgis for “Bubble Lights” and Spokes;” Linda DeHaven for “Dreamin” and “Coucher DeSoleil;” Trela Donati for “Cloudy Day;” Susan Symons for “Sunset Sky;” Charlene Manifold for “Thorn & Daisies;” Deb Lathrop for “Autumn Ablaze;” and Jean McCauley for “November Eve.” The art show will be open to the public through April 14. Hours are Tuesday – Friday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. It is an amazing show and all the works are for sale. Don’t miss it!

St. Vincent Randolph Foundation is hosting a “Casino Night” April 8, 6-10:30 p.m. at the Town Square Center, 123 W. Franklin St., Winchester. Call Dawn Keys at 765 685 0436 or Becky Bennett at 765 506 9077 for reservations. Reservations are due Friday. Cost is $50 per person.

The Women’s Fund of Randolph County is hosting the seventh Annual Women’s Brunch and Auction, Saturday, April 9 at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Parish Hall, 514 W. Washington St., Winchester, Indiana. Cost is $15 per person. A Silent Auction and Live Auction will be conducted during the brunch. Reservations are due by Friday. Call Stephanie Ward at 765 584 9077 or email [email protected]
