GREENVILLE – Even though the sun was shining bright on Tuesday the Greenville boys tennis team lost for the second time this season, falling 5-0 to Troy.
Greenville coach Dennis Kiser said he was very happy with the way his single players played against Troy.
In first singles Noah Haupt lost 6-1, 6-1 to Shane Essick. In the second singles match Craig Manges lost 6-1, 7-6 to Elizah Sadler. In third singles Quintin Muhlenkamp lost 6-2, 7-5 to Matt Schmidt.
Kiser did say he was not happy with his double players, though.
In first doubles Alex Lance and Tyler Davis lost 6-0, 6-2 to Andrew Magoteaux and Nick Pruis. In the second doubles match Austin Grote and Josh Smith lost 6-1, 6-1 to Carter Hench and Jack Johnston.
Kiser said he thought the doubles would have played better than they did.
“Troy is tough and a great team, but I thought the doubles would compete better than they did,” he said.
Troy was a team that has a lot of experience, Kiser said, and is undefeated at 6-0. Greenville’s record is now 4-2 after falling to Troy.
The Greenville junior varsity boys tennis team lost 4-1 to Troy. Max Onkst was the lone winner for the Green Wave.
Greenville will play at Vandalia-Butler on Thursday. Greenville’s next home game is Monday when the Wave will play host to Celina.
