Greenville softball team run rules Vandalia-Butler

VANDALIA – The Greenville softball team run ruled Vandalia-Butler 11-1 in a Greater Western Ohio Conference game on Thursday.

Greenville scored two runs in the first inning, one in the third, three in the fourth, three in the fifth and two in the sixth while holding Butler to a single run in the bottom of the sixth.

Both teams had six hits in Thursday’s game. Greenville committed no errors while Butler had five.

For Greenville Cassie Cromwell was 1-for-3 with a double, a walk, a run scored and two RBIs. Sydney Grote was 1-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored. Karsyn Shaffer went 1-for-2 with a walk, two stolen bases and three runs scored. Ashton Kester was 1-for-3 with a double, a RBI and a run scored.

Logan Tabler went 1-for-3 and scored a run. Jazzlyn Petry was 1-for-4 and drove in a run. Alli Hill drove in a run. Makayla Hanes stole a base and scored two runs while Alexis Byers and Tess McClure both scored a run.

Allison Minnich pitched four innings, allowing no runs on three hits, no walks and four strikeouts. Grote pitched two innings and allowed one run on three hits, one walk and one strikeout.

Greenville improved to 8-2 overall and 3-1 in the GWOC North with the win. Butler fell to 4-4 overall and 1-3 in the GWOC North.
