Eldora Speedway continues racing

ROSSBURG – Eldora Speedway continued its season Saturday with Stock Car and UMP Modifieds, which both returned from last week and added Vores Compacts.

Paul Pardo from New Paris entered the race with three straight Eldora stock cars dating back to August and took home his fourth win on Saturday.

Vores compact had not run at Eldora since 2012. Steve Vore, the founder, is from Fort Recovery. A Vores compact car is a front wheel drive car. The car has either four or six cylinders, driver’s choice.

In the racing series heat one Matthew Morris the driver of 97M and Chris Jones driver of No. 6 took first and second place. In the second heat driver of the 0 car Tom Gassar and driver of the 18 car Gary Eaton won first and second. Eaton was only down 0.459 of a second from passing Gassar.

Stock cars started out the features on Saturday. There were 24 cars in this race and they had to go 15 laps. The race went under yellow on laps 1, 10, 12, and 13.

The winner of the stock car race was Pardo, driver of the 410 car. Runner up of the race was Earnie Woodard driver of the 01 car, followed by Rob Trent of the 69 car and then Chris Douglas of the 82 car.

Next came the Vores compacts series feature. They had 15 laps to go with 20 cars in this race. Yellow flags came out on laps 7, 9, 10 and 11.

Morris won, and down only .330 seconds from him was driver of the 25S car Jake Steraka then the 95 David Yoder, 6 Chris Jennings and 18 Gary Eaton.

Finally the last feature of the night was the UMP Modified cars. This race consisted of 20 laps with 20 cars. Yellow only came out once during this, which was lap 9. The winner of this race was No. 49 Brian Ruhlman. Down 0.265 was driver of the No. 7 Evan Taylor then No. 5 Jonathan Taylor, No. 16 Jeff Koz, and No. 45P Brian Post.

The next event will be at Eldora May 6 and 7. This event will be the winged and non-winged cars. Those Friday and Saturday nights the hot laps start at 6 p.m. and racing starts at 7:30.
