Greenville baseball beats Tri-County North in extra innings

LEWISBURG – The Greenville baseball team scored six runs in the ninth inning to defeat Tri-County North 13-7 on Wednesday.

Tri-County North scored first in Wednesday’s game with a run in the bottom of the first, and Greenville tied the game with its first run in the fifth. Greenville scored five runs in the sixth and Tri-County North scored four to put the Green Wave up 6-5. After Greenville added to its lead with a run in the top of the seventh, Tri-County North forced extra innings with two runs in the bottom half of the inning. Greenville then scored six in the ninth to win by six.

Greenville had 15 hits and three errors in the game. Tri-County North had 10 hits and two errors.

Jacob Hounshell went 4-for-5 with a double, a walk, a run and two RBIs for Greenville. Tanner Ross was 3-for-6 with a RBI. Jason Shields went 2-for-6 with a double, a stolen base and a run. Grant Minnich was 2-for-4 with a walk, two stolen bases and three RBIs.

Brayden York went 1-for-3 with a double, a RBI and two runs. Kyle Mills was 1-for-4 with two walks, a stolen base, a RBI and a run. Logan Eldridge was 1-for-5 with a walk, a stolen base, a RBI and a run. Brandon Beyke was 1-for-5 with a walk, a stolen base and a run. Landon Eldridge walked twice, scored two runs and drove in a run. Tyler Netzley scored a run.

AJ Bowers earned the win for Greenville as he pitched 5 2/3 innings, allowing four unearned runs on seven hits, two walks, three hit batters and three strikeouts. Mills pitched 2 2/3 innings and allowed no runs on one hit, one walk and three strikeouts. Owen Paulus pitched 2/3 of an inning and allowed two earned runs and one unearned run on two hits and one walk.

Greenville improved to 8-11 with the win.
