Climate Change is a priority

Climate change is defined as rapid unpredictable changes in weather patterns and temperatures on a global scale. Climate change happens to be one of the biggest global crises we face today in our world. The climate on Earth has always been changing and the rate it changes is high. Greenhouse gases or heat trapping gases are the primary cause of climate change. Understanding the affect the greenhouse gases contribute is a key factor of the problem concerning climate change. The lack of the public understanding is very low.

The greenhouse effect is a major problem. The greenhouse effect says that humans are the cause for the increase in the levels of carbon dioxide, which happens to be one of the most important greenhouses gases along with water vapor. Other gases presenting themselves in lesser amounts are ozone, methane, nitrous oxide and several others. According to the National Geographic Magazine, humans are contributing huge amounts of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.

Richard A. Muller, a physics professor at the University of California, did a project to show that the temperature has increased over the past centuries, the results prove the increase from the human emission of greenhouse gases. The amount of greenhouse gases remaining will give us a dangerous future.

Global warming comes into play with the greenhouse effect as well. Global warming could lead to water and food shortages and negative effects on wildlife as well. Glaciers could melt causing shortages of freshwater. Sea level could rise causing swamping and flooding. Droughts, wildfires, heat waves and other natural disasters could become common causing devastating effects everywhere. Our world has to take action now to change and decrease global warming to make the difference in our atmosphere.

Littering, burning fossil fuels, coal, oil and natural gas are all adding to climate change and the effects persist in the atmosphere for years. Even if all were eliminated today, it would not stop global warming. The amount of all this carbon leaking into the environment is changing the climate dramatically. Cutting down and having regulations on the contribution of carbon dioxide and nuclear power would make worldwide climate pattern changes.

Using renewable energy resources is what needs to happen because without using them, the air pollution causes a huge increase in allergies, diseases, and asthma. Thinking about that, your health is at risk when you’re not trying to save the environment from a harmful future. Also, using biotechnology would make a dramatic change to the weather alteration, and have a decrease in fossil fuel findings. Biotechnology is the use of living organisms to make useful products.

Fuel economy standards need set to reduce emissions. Think about this, not just how many gallons of gas you put in your car weekly but how much gas a car uses until it breaks down or dies. A whole gallon of gas burned is 20 pounds of carbon dioxide entering our atmosphere. The general population can reduce their fuel usage by driving less, walking, carpooling, and biking. The state and government need to put a limit on gas and carbon dioxide monthly to start seeing changes take place.

World leaders have come together to have a global agreement to fight for the climate to change. Along with them the Association of Climate Change officers have made an organization, educating people all over the world about the harm climate change can bring. In the United States, there is also a policy called the Clean Power Plan, which sets boundaries from power plants on the carbon pollution.

Also, the Climate Investment Funds ran by the World Bank Group have over $7 billion. With this money they are having a larger distribution of solar energy and working to improve the forests. In addition, they are attempting to make this world a better place by working with others to achieve this goal of a better climate.

As of now, we only see the minor problems that affect the world due to climate change. Without changes, in the future, we will see the major problems it brings. Climate change has been proven by scientists. It is important that people become informed, that facts be published, and that rules and regulations be put into place to make this world a better and safer place.
