The other day I read the following on social media, “If Christianity is to survive in America, then it is time we start standing up and speaking out against people and organizations that disrespect us.”

We are at a turning point in world history. Each day we are one day closer to the rapture, the tribulation period, the return of Jesus Christ and His Kingdom on this earth. Many of the “beginning of sorrows” Christ and the New Testament writers spoke of are in our daily headlines (Matthew 24:8).

The Bible does tell us that Christ will return and before His return there will be a seven-year tribulation period when the son of perdition (the Antichrist) will rule the world. The moral decay and the hatred of Christian principles are exactly what the scripture tells us will happen in the days in which we live, the days of preparation for the Antichrist (2 Timothy 3:1-7).

Before the Antichrist comes to power will be the rapture of the church (Revelation 4:1, 6:1-2). Christians should not be surprised at the increase of immorality, the persecution of Christians, and the general falling away of Christian thinking because God told us this is what would happen (2 Thessalonians 2:1-10).

However, merely knowing an adverse event is coming doesn’t give us the way we should respond when the situation arrives. Do we take it to those people and groups that speak out against us or does God have a different plan?

How did we get to the point of biblical morals, such as only having sex with your spouse, is disregarded by society and many Christians as well? How did we get to the point where it is okay for grown men to share a restroom with little girls? How did we get to the point where the life of an animal is more protected that the life of a child in a womb?

Many Christians will claim the way we got here was by not speaking out when all these things started creeping into society, but maybe there was a course of action God wanted us to take Christians never considered.

2 Chronicles 7:14, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

Directly tied to the healing of the nation is the spiritual condition of God’s people. Could it be that the moral decay of society is in direct proportion to the spiritual decline of the Christians?

“My people, which are called by my name.” His name is Christ – we are called Christians; simple enough.

” Shall humble themselves,” – Humbling ourselves in it’s simplest form is telling God we are His and will do what He says, but it is far more than that. Humbling ourselves is putting God first. Reading the scripture and doing it with a happy heart. Being humble before God doesn’t justify our sins because of our life circumstances, humbling ourselves before God knows we can’t do life on our own and acknowledges Him as number one.

“Pray” – I reckon all Christians pray, but this is more than “Dear God” then reading the prayer list. There is more to prayer than just coming to God when you don’t know what else to do. Prayer is pouring out your heart to God. Telling Him the things in your heart that no one already knows but God Himself.

“Seek my face” – Do you want to see God as He is? When we see Him, we will also see ourselves. When we see ourselves as God sees us, we realize our imperfections, our sins, and how we have fallen short.

When we get serious with God, He will get serious with us and begin to work through us to heal the land.

The Antichrist is coming, and he does put out a death sentence upon the Christians (those saved after the rapture). The world will see Christians as an intolerant, hateful group of people. It doesn’t take much to see that this attitude toward Christians is already forming. So how do we fight it?

Christians should fall to their knees, pour out their hearts to God, quit making excuses for the sins they commit and “turn from their wicked ways” seeking to live a righteous life in every way. Then God can use Christians to heal the land.
