Bradford loses to Twin Valley South in the OHSAA baseball tournament

BRADFORD – The Bradford baseball team lost 8-3 to Twin Valley South in its opening round game of the Ohio High School Athletic Association tournament.

After two scoreless innings, Twin Valley South took a 3-0 lead in the third and then added four runs in the fifth inning and one in the sixth to lead 8-0.

Bradford finally got its offense going with two runs in the bottom of the sixth. Bryson Canan led off with a single into right and then scored on a RBI double by Walker Branson. After a walk to Wade Gerlach, Bryant Byers drove in Walker Branson with a RBI single to make it 8-2 before Twin Valley South recorded three consecutive outs to get out of the inning without further damage.

The final run of the game came in the bottom of the seventh. Mason Justice led off with a single, Andy Branson doubled and Canan singled to bring in a run. However, the Railroaders couldn’t bring anyone else in and lost by five, 8-3.

Both Bradford and Twin Valley South had eight hits in the game. Bradford committed four errors while South made two.

Canan went 2-for-3 with a walk and a run for Bradford. Mason Justice was 2-for-4. Walker Branson went 1-for-4 with a double, a run and a RBI.

Andy Branson went 1-for-3 with a double and scored a run. Bryant Byers went 1-for-3 with a RBI. Parker Smith was 1-for-4.

Smith pitched 4 2/3 innings for Bradford, allowing four earned runs and three unearned runs on seven hits, three walks and three strikeouts. Andy Branson pitched 2 1/3 innings in relief, allowing one unearned run on one hit, one walk and three strikeouts.
