ROSSBURG – The NRA Sprint Invaders, Sunoco American Late Models, Eldora Stock Cars and the Dirtcar UMP Modifieds all raced during the Johnny Appleseed Classic race on Sunday night at Eldora Speedway.
In heat one of the NRA Sprint Invaders 77XX Christopher Bell, 35 Ron Blair and 10 Mitch Brown took the top three places. Heat two saw 49 Shawn Dancer, 22H Randy Hannagan, and 2 Kyle Sauder place in the top three spots. Heat three had 5M Max Stambaugh, 16 Ryan Ruhel, and 20B Butch Schroeder finish in the top three.
In heat four 24 Rico Abreu, 11 Tim Allison, and 17 Jared Horstman were in the top three.
In the B Feature, which consisted of 10 laps, 28 Phil Gressman won this feature while 11R Chase Ridenour and 30 Hud Horton took the second and third place in the race.
In the A Feature, which ran 20 laps, 77XX Christopher Bell won this feature to win the money. The 24 car of Rico Abreu and 22H Randy Hanagan also took top three places in the race.
Christopher Bell was sixth in the start and he soon got up to take over the first place in the feature. Bell did everything he had to and got through the traffic to beat off Rico Abreu, who also will run in the NASCAR truck series race at Eldora.
In the Sunoco American Late Models heat one was 20C Duane Chamberlain, 15 Jon Henry and the 97 Michael Chilton in the top three. In heat two 14V of Joe Godsey, 49 Brian Ruhlman, and the 21 Robby Hensley took the top three. Heat three had 5N of Dustin Nobbe, 11RS Rusty Schlenk, and 32 of Chad Stapleton take the top three.
In the B feature in this category, which ran 10 laps, the 7R of Kent Robinson took first while 15J Scott James and 31 Nick Latham finished in second and third. This feature went under caution on lap five.
In the A feature, which was 25 laps, the 3 car of Matt Miller took home first and the money. The 7B Jeff Babcock and the 14V Joe Godsey took home second and third. This race went under yellow on lap 12.
Matt Miller is a retired driver who comes back to Eldora on Memorial Day weekends. He has won the last five out of six races at Eldora. Miller started 11th and came up from the back to win this feature. Duane Chamberlain led early in the race but had mechanic problems taking him out of the race.
In the Eldora Stock Cars heat one the 7 car of Jordan Conover, the 82 of Chris Douglas and the 8 of Gary Rahe came in the first top three. Heat two saw 71C of Barney Craig, 410 Paul Pardo, and the 27 of Frank Paladino in the top three. In heat three 61 Rob Trent, 17H of Red Harvey Jr and 55 Brandon Archey came in the top three.
In the A Feature, which ran 15 laps, the 71C of Barney Craig took home the money and 82 Chris Douglas, and the 410 Paul Pardo came in the top three spots as well.
In the Dirt Car UMP Modifieds heat one 16 Jeff Koz, 36 Brandon Vaughan and the 7 of Evan Taylor were the top three. In heat two 17 Brandon Ramsey, 49 Brain Ruhlman and 18 of Ryan Sutter were the top three. Heat three 77 had Joey Kramer, 18M David McWIlliams and 1 Scott Williams come in the top three.
In the B Feature, which was eight laps, the 75 car of David Smith, 10 Scott Bowersock and the 11H Mike Hohlbein came in the top three positions. This race went under yellow during lap one, two and lap six.
The A Feature, which was 20 laps, had the 77 car of Joey Kramer, 16 Jeff Koz and 49 Brian Ruhlman in the top three positions. This race went under yellow during lap 12.
Joey Kramer started off second and then took first the whole way during this feature.
The next event at Eldora will be the Dirt Late Model Dream on June 9-11.
