More Union City artists


Carol Peden has been painting for about 25 years. She does several hours of studio work, but also likes to paint ‘Plein Aire.” She loves to draw and her preferred medium is oil.

She has also worked in acrylics and watercolors. Peden has taken local art classes and always enjoys learning more with each lesson. She has one daughter and son-in-law and five grandchildren to keep her busy as well. From the Arcanum area, she is one of the members of the art co-op The Art Hub located in Union City. Randolph County Garden Club opened the 2016 season with a carry-in dinner at the Huntsville Community Center in April. Darlene Trusty from the Allisonville Nursery near Fishers, In was the featured speaker. She spoke of using tropical plants for landscaping in zone 5. Trusty is a volunteer at The Indianapolis Museum of Art as a garden guide. The next meeting was to be May 31 at the home of Joanie Pascal near Saratoga, Indiana, where Tim and Angela Green discussed the benefits of using raw milk. Comedy and cocktails will be held June 11 at 8 p.m. at the Firehouse Pipes as part of the Second Saturday event.

June 11, from 9 a.m. until ?, is the Second Saturday Market. Come early and enjoy the day. Produce, food, handmade items, gift items all on North Columbia Street, Union City, Indiana. Email [email protected] if you are interested in participating. Last month, the weather did not co-operate, but many vendors braved the weather and so did customers. It is a fun time in downtown Union City. Don’t miss June 11 in downtown Union City.

This year’s theme is “Two Tickets to Paradise” Sept. 9, 10 and 11. Eddie Money is the featured band this year, plus 10 other bands. A fun time in downtown Union City this September!

July 3 is packed full of fun too at Harter Park, the Union City, Indiana, Fire Department and Union City, Indiana, Police Department are helping Redefine Union City with an all-day celebration. Plan to join the fun, more details later.
