“Ice Cream” or “I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for Ice Cream” is a popular song, first published in 1927, with words and music by Howard Johnson, Billy Moll, and Robert King. After initial success as a late 1920s novelty song, the tune became a traditional jazz standard, while the lyrics refrain “I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for Ice Cream” has remained a part of popular culture even without the rest of the song.
Abbottsville United Methodist Church welcomes you to their Ice Cream Social on Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m. They are located at 4135 State Route 49, Arcanum. They will have chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry ice cream to satisfy your sweet tooth and also shredded chicken and BBQ sandwiches, cole slaw, and potato salad on the menu. Additionally they will have assorted homemade pies, cookies, and brownies to enjoy. Stop by and enjoy some fellowship and enjoy a treat!
Gordon United Methodist Church, 311 East St., Gordon will be serving delicious, home-made ice cream on June 1 from 5 to 7 p.m. Flavors include vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, peanut butter, pineapple, lemon and peach. Always good food, fun, and fellowship for the community – organizers state that all are welcome!
Arcanum Pool opened Mondy. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday noon to 7 p.m., Saturday and Sunday noon to 6 p.m. The community pool is located on Pool Drive at the end of Ivester Lane. Pool manager this year will again be Julie Bowman and her assistant Abbey O’Donnell. Daily rate is $3 every day, special Wacky Wednesdays are $2. Pool passes are available per person or by family. Ladies’ Aqua Aerobics classes will begin on June 13 from 11 a.m. to noon every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The pool will open at 10:30 a.m. on these days, all ladies are welcome. Cost is $45 or a senior citizen’s pool pass.

The Farmer’s Market will be held every Saturday for the summer and is sponsored by AWTHS in Veteran’s Park in downtown Arcanum. This will begin the first Saturday in June from 9 a.m. to 12 Noon and continue every Saturday. Anyone interested in selling their produce or crafts is invited to set up their booth/stand. There is no fee to participate. Any questions, please call Sharon Troutwine at 692-5128. The house will be open for tours, viewing displays and doing research. While appointments are not required for the reference library and research they are recommended so the staff can be present to assist. Arcanum seniors representing their school one final time at the Ohio High School Athletic Association state track and field meet are Austin Gibboney in the boys 300 meter hurdles, Alexis Kreusch in the girls’ high jump and Erica Zimmer in the girls shot for the Division III state meet at The Ohio State University’s Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium in Columbus.
