WEST CHESTER, Ohio – The stakes are high even if attention and interest are low in a special electionTuesday to elect the successor to former House Speaker John Boehner (BAY’-nur) in Congress.
The 8th House District seat in western Ohio he vacated last year is heavily Republican, and is in a state where districts are all incumbent-friendly. Winning Tuesday would not only put GOP nominee Warren Davidson in the House, it would put him in the driver’s seat to election to a full term in November.
But the Army veteran and businessman says it’s been a struggle to drum up interest in the race after a high-profile, 15-candidate March primary.
He faces low-key young Democrat Corey Foister and frequent candidate Jim Condit Jr., who’s running under the Green Party banner.
