ARCANUM — The wheels have been turning at Troutwine Auto Sales in Arcanum since 1928. Fred and Dick Troutwine are the guests on Saturday at 10 a.m. for the first session of the 2016 Coffee and Conversation series held at the Arcanum Wayne Trail Historical Society, 123 W. George St.

Fred and Dick will look back at how the local automobile business grew, how WWII changed operations, and fires brought business to a halted. They’ll add a few funny stories which happened along the way.

“Join us to share memories of the early years, from the hand crank starter to the keyless starter. From a time when the only color of car you could get was black,” said a spokesperson.

Fourth generation of the Troutwine family continue to keep the wheels turning. Ira, Oscar, Web and Deo would be surprised to see how manufactures and models have changed and how the business has expanded.

“This summer series is a time to sit back, relax and share memories of growing up in Arcanum and Southern Darke County,” said organizers. “Part of the fun of this gathering is sharing your stories too. It seem everyone has fond memories of their first car. Tell us yours.”

Everyone is invited to this free event. Contact Barb Deis, 678-7832, for more information.
