Greenville Municipal Concert Band summer series continues Sunday

GREENVILLE – The Greenville Municipal Concert Band will continue its summer season Sunday, July 10 at 7 p.m. at the Marling Band Shell in the Greenville City Park. This week’s show focuses on the talents of area young people. Two groups will be featured on Sunday showing off talent, hard work and dedication to the arts.

The first performing group will be Kura Taka Taiko. Kura Taka Taiko is a drum group that performs in the Taiko style of drumming that is learned on the Japanese island of Kodo. Taiko involves rhythmic patterns and choreography. Kura Taka Taiko will perform Yose Bayashi on their own and Taiko with the Greenville Municipal Concert Band. Kura Taka Taiko is comprised of students from the Mississinawa Valley School District. They are under the direction of Audrey Hathaway.

The second group to perform is the vocal group Quintessential. Quintessential is Quincy Baltes, Isaac Buschur, Brody Hyre, Mitchell Rawlins and Kyle Wuebker. These singers are from the Versailles school district and have been active in the VHS band, show choir and musical. Quintessential performed and won the Ohio Has Talent Competition earlier this. These five love music and love singing together.

The Greenville Municipal Concert Band will take the stage to present music through the ages.

“We will again explore the wonderful marches of John Philip Sousa with The Freelance March and King Cotton. Our overture for the evening will be the exciting and energetic Esprit de Corps by Robert Jager. We will also turn back time with the classic Blue Tango by Leroy Anderson . The band will perform a wonderful tribute to the music of Michael Buble,” said J.R. Price.

Seating is available or bring your own lawn chair or blanket. As always, the concerts are free and open to the public
