Summer Reading Program closing

BRADFORD — Bradford Public Library will be hosting a very special “End of Summer Olympics” for all children and students who have turned in at least their first completed reading sheet. The ages for this event will be 4 to 18.

This event is co-sponsored by Bradford Public Library and Bradford’s Community Club. It will be held in the Y-Yard from 1 and 4 p.m. To effectively plan for this event, contact the library at 448-2612 to sign up child(ren) by this Saturday.

“If there is inclement weather, it will be held in the Community Club venue,” organizers said. “All children will receive medals and the events will be lots of fun! These is not your typical RIO Olympic events! If you have not turned in your first reading sheet, you must do so before our annual Fishing Derby, held on Saturday. The Annual Fishing Derby is sponsored by Stillwater Bass Club, Miami County Park District and Bradford Public Library also on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Sign-ups for the Fishing Derby, which is held at Stillwater Prairie on State Route 185, will begin at 9:30 a.m. Everyone has a great time, This can be a family or individual child event.

“Bring your pole along and if you do not have a fishing pole, one will be provided for you by the Miami County Park District,” organizer said. “The bait is supplied by the Stillwater Bass Club. A picnic lunch will be provided for everyone by Stillwater Bass Club. If you are only coming for the Fishing Derby itself, and are not members of Bradford Public Library’s summer reading program that is OK! Prizes will be given out by the Stillwater Bass Club and if you are a member of BPL’s summer reading program, you will receive a prize from them, also! This is a win-win event for everyone!
