Museum Friend’s day trip planned

VERSAILLES — As the dog days of summer rush by, Versailles Area Museum is planning a road trip to another interesting site.

On Aug.11, a group will carpool to nearby Fountain City, Indiana, and visit the Levi Coffin house to learn about the Underground Railroad.

“This unique piece of American history runs right by us and yet many do not know about this important American story in our neighborhood,” said a spokesperson. “The cost is $2 to tour the Levi Coffin house; your lunch and shopping are at your expense and a gratuity to your driver is always a nice gesture. We are very limited on space and can only take 18 guests so reserve your spot now!”

Reservations can be made by calling Jim at 467-1585 to be placed on the list or call the museum at 526-4222.

“If you are a member of the Versailles Area Museum we appreciate your support,” the spokesperson said. “If not, why? We need you to help us keep all these wonderful opportunities happening in our community. We look forward to enjoying the history and back roads for another fun day with your museum.”
