XENIA – The Greenville girls tennis team continued its wave of victories as the Lady Wave remained undefeated by defeating the first place American League South Xenia Buccaneers 5-0 at the Greene County Fairgrounds Tuesday afternoon.

Greenville improved to 7-0 overall and 4-0 in the American League North division.

In singles action, first singles freshman sensation Natalie Milligan defeated Mt. Vernon commit Aly Landis, 6-2, 6-3. Second singles player Anna Manges dropped hard hitting Savannah Puckett 6-1, 6-1. At third singles Abby Swensen kept the winning going against all court specialist Peyton McClain 6-3, 6-0.

Doubles action was doubly exciting as the first doubles duo of Molly Hunt and Larissa Schmitmeyer took care of the energetic and hard serving squad of sisters Grace and Alexis Mc Clelland 6-2, 6-0. Second doubles saw the tandem of Amber Hutt and Addie Haupt hopping the net after a win against senior veterans Kaili Deck and Jodi Collier 6-1, 6-0.

”It is always a pleasure to get a win against a high quality Division 1 tennis team in the Xenia Buccaneers,” Greenville coach Jim Koontz said. “Xenia is going to go on and win plenty of matches and perhaps the American League South crown. All of the matches lasted over an hour and half in 90 degree heat with our players showing plenty of skill.”
