MINSTER – Lauren Heitkamp was named the Midwest Athletic Conference girls golfer of the year and led Versailles to the 2016 Midwest Athletic Conference championship.
Versailles shot a 371 in the MAC tournament on Saturday at Arrowhead Golf Club in Minster, winning the tournament championship over runner up Minster by 20 strokes. Minster and Versailles shared the season’s conference championship as Minster was undefeated in the regular season and Versailles finished with one loss.
Lauren Heitkamp was named the conference’s girls golfer of the year as she shot an 18-hole round of 79 on Saturday and won the tournament championship by nine strokes over St. Henry’s Kaitlyn Clune.
Versailles’ Lauren Durham shot an 87 during the conference tournament to finish third overall and earn first team all-league honors.
The Lady Tigers’ Moran Heitkamp tied for seventh in the MAC tournament with a round of 101. She was named second team all-MAC along with teammate Jorja Pothast, who shot a 104 in the conference tournament.
Versailles’ Anna Groff shot a 106 on Saturday while Morgan Barlage shot a 118.
In the MAC tournament, St. Henry finished third behind Minster and Versailles with a score of 395. New Bremen was fourth with a 420, Fort Recovery finished fifth with a 446, Coldwater was sixth with a 452, Parkway finished seventh with a 471, and Marion Local was eighth with a 472.
