Sweet & Sassy: Quit ‘clowning’ around

0

Why would anybody in this day and age try and put a scare into other people?

Yes, I’m talking about the clown drama going on, not only across the nation, but here in our own county.

It’s all over Facebook. Who are these people? It’s bad enough we have to worry about terrorists and school shootings and now won’t know whether to trust people in costume.

Are they teenagers? Grownups? We don’t know what they’re up to or capable of.

Do we make light of it? I don’t think so. Some people may find it amusing, but not me.

If they’re doing it as a joke, they may one day be sorry while carrying out their antics. Not everybody is going to let them get by with it.

Someone may get killed. No matter who they are, we surely want to protect our own families and loved ones first.

And, the government wants to disarm everyone else?

On Facebook, Darke County Sheriff Toby Spencer said probably what others have been thinking: “For you that think it’s funny to dress up as a clown, scare drivers on dark roadways, chase people with things that resemble weapons….TAKE HEED: This warning is for YOU….yes, you, THE IDIOT…..as of today (Wednesday), we have issued 6,125 CCW [Concealed Carry Weapons] permits in Darke County alone…..just a number to consider the next time you think about donning your clown outfit, you might also ask yourself how your luck will be today! FOR everyone else: Please call your local police department or call 9-1-1 immediately should you see any suspicious activity!”

Thanks Toby, I totally agree.

Not to mention this whole ordeal will surely ruin Halloween for some area children or even us older folks. Do we let these people near us, since we don’t know who they are?

Maybe these “clowns” are innocent people, but shame on them for putting a scare into everybody.

I have never been afraid of a clown, but some people are. The only thing that bothers me with them is that I don’t know who is under that mask. And, now I will wonder even more.

Send away the clowns.
