Ansonia football team shut out by Troy Christian


ANSONIA – Troy Christian shut out Ansonia 48-0 in a non-conference football game on Friday night in Ansonia.

Troy Christian scored just seven points in the first quarter before pulling away to a 25-0 lead at halftime and a 47-point margin of victory.

Aydan Sanders led Ansonia’s offense with 109 rushing yards on 11 carries for an average of 9.9 yards per carry. His long run was 39 yards. As a team Ansonia ran the ball 37 times for 132 yards.

Ansonia didn’t complete any of its five pass attempts during the game.

Matthew Shook led Ansonia’s defense with eight tackles. Hunter Muir made seven tackles, Max Wardrip had six, and Rygh Fortkamp made five. Wardrip also recovered two fumbles.

Ansonia fell to 1-5 on the season with the loss while Troy Christian improved to 5-1. Ansonia will be on action on Friday when the Tigers travel to Arcanum.
