Versailles volleyball finishes as Van Wert Invitational runner up

VAN WERT – The Versailles volleyball team finished as the runner up to New Bremen in the Van Wert Invitational on Saturday.

Versailles began the tournament with a 25-5, 25-8 victory against host Van Wert.

Elizabeth Ording led Versailles with six kills against Van Wert while Danielle Winner had four. Ellen Peters had nine assists, and Bailey Huffman had four.

Kami McEldowney led Versailles with 14 digs. Kami McEldowney also had a team-high four aces, and Kami Ording added three. Lindsey Winner had one block.

In the semifinals Versailles beat Lima Shawnee 25-12, 25-21.

Elizabeth Ording had seven kills in the match, and Danielle Winner had five. Ellen Peters had a team-high 10 assists, and Bailey Huffman had five.

Kami McEldowney had three aces, and Kate Stammen added two. Kami McEldowney also led the team with 10 digs while Bailey Huffman had four.

Versailles then lost the championship match to fellow Midwest Athletic Conference member New Bremen 25-19, 25-20.

Elizabeth Ording had six kills for Versailles while both Danielle Winner and Lindsey Winner had three. Danielle Winner had three blocks as well.

Kami McEldowney led Versailles with 14 digs and three aces. Ellen Peters had eight assists for the Tigers while Mallory Marshal had seven.

Versailles is now 13-5 on the season.
