GREENVILLE – Greenville Federal made a $50,000 donation to Greenville’s The Friends of Harmon Field organization on Friday afternoon.

Greenville Federal President Jeff Kniese and Chief Financial Officer Susan Barker made the presentation at Harmon Field in Greenville.

“We’re just glad to be a part of the Friends of Harmon Field and the renovation of the whole stadium, and to play a small part is something we’re very excited about,” Kniese said.

The Friends of Harmon Field is an organization that seeks to modernize the athletic facilities for Greenville Senior High School. The group wants to provide a new track and field complex north of Harmon Field, make improvements to Harmon Field including turf upgrades, create a new facility for restrooms and locker rooms and renovate or replace the concrete stands, seating and press box at Harmon Field.

The estimated cost of the project is $5 million. Currently the project is almost halfway to its funding goal, Kyle Kagey from The Friends of Harmon Field said.

“We’re hoping more choose to do it,” Kagey said of Greenville Federal donating to the project. “Greenville has been very, very generous in more ways than one.”

Previously Greenville Federal donated funds for the scoreboard at Harmon Field.

The current fundraising effort has received donations from dozens of corporate and individual sponsors.
