Bradford girls basketball team falls to Russia in season opener

BRADFORD – Bradford began the 2016-17 girls basketball season Saturday night with a 68-20 loss to Russia.

Russia took an 18-2 first quarter and extended its advantage to 34-7 at halftime. The Raiders led the Railroaders 56-14 through three quarters en route to the 68-20 win.

Mandi Bates led Bradford with 12 points in the loss. Also for the Lady Railroaders, Ivee Brubaker, Liv Hart, Bianca Keener and Bailey Wysong each scored two points.

Laurissa Poling led Russia with a game-high 16 points. Also for the Raiders, Tiffany Hatcher scored 13 points, Maria Herron scored eight, Chritina Gaerke scored six, Cameo Wilson scored five, Shea Borchers scored four, Whitney Pleiman scored four, and Jenna Cordonnier scored one.
