Tonight, the Arts Depot will host an opening holiday event featuring the talented artist, Carol Strock-Wasson; local and regional artists entitled “Eye of the Artist Exhibition” 6 – 8 p.m.

The exhibit will run through December 23. Open Tuesday-Friday 10 – 4 p.m. and Saturday 1-3 p.m. All work is for sale and reasonably priced for an original gift. Artists include, Mary Ellen Bertram, Farmland; Trela Donati, Muncie; Susan Symons, Winchester; Linda DeHaven, Union City; Annette Warfel, Richmond; Kathy Cruz-Uribe, Richmond; Phil Erbaugh, Springfield; Marcia Weidner, Greenville; Jean Sealanders, Greenville; Kay Hissong, Dayton; Greg Sommer, Saratoga; Selena Burk, Union City; Pat Trocano, Union City; Caryn Moore, Muncie; Dan Woodson, Muncie; Tom Woodson; Carol Strock-Wasson, Union City; Margie Prim, Muncie; Sally Hughes, Richmond; Kevin Gahrt, Union City, Joanie Pascal, Saratoga; Sierra Skinner, Union City; and others.

Well, the “Shop Small Business Saturday” in Union City was cancelled due to a widespread outage of electricity. So, now is the time to support your local businesses. In Union City, The Corner Cupboard, Union City Christian Bookstore, Strock-Wasson Gallery, Jo’s Corner Florist, My Favorite Flowers, The Little Shop of Many Things, Under the Redbud Tree, The 209 Oak St. Antiques, Union City Antique Mall, B & J Antiques just to name a few, would like to invite you to shop in downtown Union City. Some special events are planned in the next few days including “Christmas in the City.” Buy a small bouquet of flowers, an unusual antique, pottery, art work, cards, gifts, jewelry, and more all available in Union City, Indiana-Ohio.

Christmas in the City is Friday. At the Community Room, 103 N. Columbia St. a Cookie Walk, Pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus, Soup and sandwich by Sigma Phi Gamma Theta Zeta chapter and the Lions Nut Sales. Bus rides to see the Lights in Harter Park for “A Community Christmas” will run every 15 minutes. All activities at 5 – 8 p.m. Many of the downtown businesses will also be open with treats and special offerings. Hot Chocolate and S’mores will be at the Artisan Crossing. At the Art Hub, many surprises, including free gifts will be featured, food, and other homemade surprises.

Lights and Flights from the Randolph County Airport will offer a flight this weekend on Friday and Saturday from 6 p.m. til 11 p.m. The cost of the flight over Harter Park to view the spectacular lights is only $20 per person. All proceeds benefit PAWS (Pets are Worth Saving). If inclement weather occurs Friday or Saturday, flights will also be offered on Sunday.

Speaking of “A Community Christmas,” Larry Amspaugh, chairman, states that this year in the 68-acre Harter Park more than five million lights will illuminate. It is a drive-through tour which is free. A donation can be made at the exit if you choose. Large groups in buses and encouraged and many take advantage of it from several surrounding states. Don’t miss it.
