Darke County gymnasts celebrate senior night

DARKE COUNTY – The Darke and Shelby county gymnastics team celebrated senior night for three gymnasts during the Northmont Quad.

The meet included gymnasts from Arcanum, Franklin Monroe, Greenville, Miami East, Northmont, Troy and Versailles. It was senior night for Arcanum’s Emma Smith, Greenville’s Sydney Oda and Versailles’ Katelyn Kingrey.

Kingrey won the all-around with a score of 35.5. Oda finished eighth on bars. Smith scored 8.2 on vault and 8.25 on floor.

Franklin Monroe’s Leighana Rautsaw scored 8.15 on floor. Arcanum’s Cheyenne White had a good meet in the all-around.

Versailles’ Madison Ahrens and Jadyn Barga tied for second with 35.1 in the all-around. Ahrens had a season-best score in the vault with a mark of 9.75.

Versailles’ Ellie Barga scored a 34.25 in the all-around and had her best vault score of the season, 8.5. The Tigers’ Jada Barlage also set a season-high on the vault with an 8.15. Versailles’ Jorja Pothast, still recovering from a sprained ankle, was only able to compete on bars.

Versailles won the team championship at the Northmont Quad with a score of 139.95.

On Sunday gymnasts competed in a SWIM meet at Miamisburg. The meet included Arcanum’s Emma Smith, Franklin Monroe’s Leighana Rautsaw, Greenville’s Sydney Oda and Versailles’ Jada Barlage.

Oda competed in the all-around for the first time and placed third. She finished fifth on both vault and bars.

Smith finished fourth in the all-around and second on beam. Rautsaw finished fifth in the all-around. She placed fourth on vault and fifth on beam. Jada Barlage competed in floor and vault.
