Welcome a new face to the library


The February sunshine will have lots of people ready to walk and stretch those winterized muscles. This winter has been a blessing on fuel bills and and avoidance of ice. The mild winter will give way to March within days and then we will have either roaring or purring from Mother Nature.

Welcome to a new face at the New Madison Public Library. Christine Cela will be working as the new fiscal officer at the library. The Tri-Village graduate is replacing Kim Chowning who is retiring from her position at the library. She will remain at the school.

The library has a great supply of board games so keep from being bored by asking at the desk. The library continues to sponsor two adult book clubs. If you find these dwindling days of winter becoming tiresome, try reading the book club selections and consider joining in the discussions.

Femme Fatale meets on the 21st at 5 p.m. That book choice is “No One Knows” by J. T. Elliott. The second book selection is “The Wonder” by Emma Donoghue. The Page Turners meet on the second Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m.

Plans are underway to sponsor Camp Growth again. This summer program is sponsored by the United Methodist Church. Keep July open for your child to join the fun and to keep learning through the summer break. More information will be provided but remember to think about camp in July.

A reminder to junior girls to check with the guidance office for information on attending Buckeye Girls’ State next summer. The auxiliary at the American Legion is sponsoring this annual event to teach young women how government works.

This week’s congratulations: Both basketball teams have presented excellent seasons for the local fans. Now they are ready to follow the the tournament trail and fans are ready to cheer both the boys and girls’ teams.
