GREENVILLE – Greenville alumnus Clay Guillozet and his West Liberty University teammates will come to Urbana for a basketball game on Thursday.
Guillozet, a 2016 Greenville graduate and the Green Wave boys basketball team’s all-time leading scorer, is a freshman on the West Liberty men’s basketball team. The Hilltoppers are 24-2 this season and ranked seventh in the nation in NCAA Division II.
West Liberty will play Urbana University at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Urbana. Earlier this season West Liberty beat Urbana 132-97 in West Liberty, West Virginia. Thursday’s game is one of only two trips to Ohio that West Liberty is making this season, the other being against Notre Dame College on Jan. 21 in South Euclid.
Guillozet has played in 19 games for West Liberty this season, averaging 19.5 minutes played per game, and has started the last two games. He’s fifth on the team with 10.1 points per game while also averaging 3.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game. The 6-foot 2-inch guard scored a career-high 20 points against West Virginia Wesleyan College on Jan. 10.
West Liberty has one of the nation’s most prolific offenses. The Hilltoppers are third in NCAA Division II with 97.8 points per game behind only Pfeiffer University and Fairmont State University.
After playing at Urbana on Thursday, West Liberty will conclude the regular season at Wheeling Jesuit University on Saturday. The Hilltoppers then will begin Mountain East Conference tournament play.
