KETTERING – Greenville sophomore Mark Zeiler qualified for the Ohio High School Athletic Association district bowling tournament.
Greenville’s boys bowlers competed in the Division I sectional meet on Thursday at Poelking Woodman Lanes and finished 17th out of 20 squads with a total score of 3,297. Greenville beat West Carrollton, Springboro and Bellefontaine.
Zeiler led the Green Wave by finishing 17th overall with games of 192, 208 and 190 for a 590 series to earn one of the nine district-qualifying spots for individuals.
Greenville junior Cullen Blinn finished 66th overall with games of 138, 158 and 150 for a 446 series. Junior Dylan Stepp rolled games of 134, 161 and 142 for a 437 series, finishing 68th. Freshman Alex Kiser finished 69th with games of 149, 149 and 138 for a 436 series.
Sophomore Dylan Smith rolled a 187, freshman Chris Elliott rolled a 130, and junior Jordan Miller rolled a 129.
Centerville, Fairmont, Wayne, Sidney, Northmont, Beavercreek, Miamisburg, Vandalia-Butler and Tecumseh qualified for the district tournament as teams.
Along with Zeiler, Fairborn’s JT Cherpeski, Tippecanoe’s James Ridgeway, Piqua’s Travis Smith, Xenia’s Ryan Day, Troy’s Hayden Jackson, Tippecanoe’s Stephen Ridgeway, Fairborn’s Stephen Spahr and Troy’s Logan Jones qualified for the district tournament as individuals.
Zeiler will compete in the district tournament on Wednesday at Beaver-Vu Lanes in Beavercreek.
