In Cincinnati last week end and saw my first ‘spring’ tree in bloom. A small pink flowering tree was answering the call of 70 degree temperatures. But then came the shock of snow flurries and 40 degrees. Tiny daffodil blooms were being tossed by wind as I watched from the window. And so we ask ourselves, what will spring and summer bring to this area.
The threat of storms had the dog a nervous wreck because she is hearing the far and near clapps of thunder. Mother Nature is unfolding a bag of tricks on all of us.
March means the third quarter of school is winding down. Winter sports are in the midst of tournament action and the best of the year’s movies has been chosen. Time for a new beginning.
Congratulations to the fourth-graders at Tri-Village for the wonderful act of making valentines for some very special people. Valentines for Vets was in operation again with the help of the American Legion Auxiliary under the leadership of Marian Eley. These creations of the heart went to the Vets Hospital in Dayton. Congratulations for the effort with paste and construction paper to say “thank you.”
Mark your March calendar for an early school dismissal on March 15. (1:15).
Remember breakfast at the Legion every week day morning.
Special note to the following:
• Amanda Michael for the dean’s list at Kent State.
• Mary Straszheim. Happy birthday. She is 85 and known for her coffee cakes. The Wednesday Work Crew at the United Methodist Church are a few pounds heavier because of her much appreciated coffee cake.
• The four Tri-Village spelling bee winners at Tri-Village: Alyssa Begoon was champ and Linda Ayette was runner-up in the elementary. Aiden Collins was the junior high champ and Delanee Gray was runner-up.
