Greenville School District’s East Elementary School is being demolished this week. A farewell visit to Greenville East Intermediate School, aka East School, took place Dec. 3. Students now attend a new state-of-the-art K-8 facility on Ohio Street. According to the Greenville School District’s 2015 Audit Report, in 1883, East Building was constructed at a cost of $75,000. It was a large brick building, which housed the high school for many years. It was later converted into a grade school and was replaced with the present structure in 1950, for third and fourth-graders.
