HILLIARD – The Versailles gymnastics team finished sixth at the Ohio High School Athletic Association state meet at Hilliard Bradley High School.
The Tigers – senior Katelyn Kingrey, junior Jorja Pothast, sophomore Madison Ahrens, sophomore Jadyn Barga, freshman Ellie Barga and freshman Jada Barlage – competed in the team competition at the state meet on Friday.
Versailles scored a 35.850 on vault, 34.625 on uneven bars, 33.600 on balance beam and 34.175 on floor exercise for a total team score of 138.250, finishing sixth out of 12 teams in the competition.
Brecksville Broadview Heights won the state competition with a total score of 147.150, Rocky River Magnifiant finished second with 146.075 points, Mentor finished third with 142.700, Hudson finished fourth with 139.900, and Chardon finished fifth with 138.625.
Lewis Center Olentangy finished seventh with 135.725 points, Thornville Sheridan finished eighth with 134.775, Dresden Tri-Valley finished ninth with 133.025, Miamisburg finished 10th with 131.850, Holland Springfield finished 11th with 130.925, and Perrysburg finished 12th with 130.400.
On Saturday Ahrens, Jadyn Barga and Kingrey competed in the individual competition.
Ahrens finished 12th in the all-around competition with a total score of 36.000. She finished 10th on vault with a 9.375 and finished 14th on floor with an 8.975. She also scored an 8.925 on balance beam and an 8.725 on uneven bars.
Jadyn Barga finished 15th in the all-around with a 35.650. She finished fourth on uneven bars with a 9.250, finished 11th on vault with a 9.300 and finished 32nd on floor with an 8.400. She also recorded an 8.700 on beam.
Kingrey finished 21st on bars with an 8.625.
