









VERSAILLES – Versailles junior Justin Ahrens was named the Midwest Athletic Conference’s boys basketball player of the year and Versailles’ Travis Swank was named the MAC boys basketball coach of the year for the 2016-17 season.
In his first season as Versailles’ varsity boys basketball coach Swank led the Tigers to a perfect 9-0 record in the conference.
Justin Ahrens averaged 22.4 points, 8.9 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game for the conference champion Tigers.
Along with Justin Ahrens, junior AJ Ahrens and senior Alex Wendel both were named first team all-MAC.
Senior Conner Custenborder and junior Keaton McEldowney both were named second team all-MAC.
Versailles’ Austin Knapke made the MAC’s honorable mention team.
Versailles won the MAC championship with a perfect 9-0 record. Marion Local finished second at 7-2, Delphos St. John’s and Fort Recovery tied for third at 6-3, and Minster and St. Henry tied for fifth at 5-4. Coldwater finished seventh with a 4-5 record while New Bremen, New Knoxville and Parkway all tied for eighth with 1-8 records.
