GREENVILLE – The Greenville boys tennis team won its season opener on Monday, defeating Wapakoneta 4-1.
In first doubles Greenville’s duo of Austin Grote and Josh Smith beat Austin Birkemeier and Jordan Moening 6-2, 6-2. In second doubles the Green Wave’s Aaron Lobenstein and Josh Galloway beat Owen Simonson and David Haver 6-2, 6-3.
In the first singles match Greenville’s Noah Haupt beat Paul Fohrmann 6-1, 6-1. In second singles the Green Wave’s Craig Manges beat Jeffrey Adkins 7-5, 6-4. In the third singles match the Wave’s Branson Leigeber lost 7-6 (7), 6-4 to Bryce Schlenker.
Greenville improved to 1-0 with the victory while Wapakoneta fell to 0-1.
