GREENVILLE – Craig House, of Greenville, takes pride in the streets of Greenville.
He and five other volunteers with Person Centered Services (PCS), in Greenville, picked up trash on S. Broadway Street last week. They were accompanied by Community Outreach Group Supervisor Shawna Mader, of Greenville, who was always smiling.
“We don’t like the trash laying around,” House said of himself and his six co-workers. “We just want everything all cleaned up.”
The mission of PCS is to provide and coordinate person – centered opportunities for meaningful community integration for Adults with Developmental Disabilities.
“This is a group that gives back to the community by going out into the community,” Mader said. “Anything the community needs help with, we like to be involved.”
Some of their services include: picking up trash in the parks, cleaning up yards, helping walking dogs at the Darke County Humane Society, mulching for the Greenville City Police Department, helping with spring cleaning at the Lighthouse Christian Center and cooking meals meals for the local Veterans that are closed in.
Mader has been with PCS 22 years and she said she loves her job.
“Everyday is different,” she said. “You have to love people to be able to love what I do.”
