Mississinawa Valley softball team run ruled by National Trail

UNION CITY – Mississinawa Valley held a 5-1 lead midway through Tuesday’s Cross County Conference softball game against National Trail but ended up losing 16-5 in a five-inning run rule.

National Trail scored one run in the top half of the first inning before Mississinawa Valley responded with four runs in the second and one in the third to lead 5-1. But then Trail scored nine runs in the fourth inning and six in the fifth to win 16-5.

Mississinawa Valley had 12 hits and one error in the game while National Trail had 18 hits and two errors.

MV’s Bailey Johnson went 2-for-3 with a home run, two stolen bases, a run and three RBI. Lupe Arrona was 2-for-3 with a RBI. Paxton Scholl was 2-for-2 with a walk, a stolen base and a run. Jolie Elson went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and a run.

Makayla Coning was 2-for-3. Kinsie Blocher was 1-for-2 with a walk and a run. Taydem Elson was 1-for-3. Amanda Jeffers walked once, stole two bases and scored a run.

Scholl pitched the complete game for Mississinawa Valley, allowing 16 runs on 18 hits, two walks, two hit batters and two strikeouts.
