GREENVILLE — Bunco 4 Boobies eighth annual event paid off, April 21, to the tune of $26,500.
The Bunco 4 Boobies members, led by President Jessica Artz, presented a check to the Cancer Association of Darke County for $23,500. An additional $3,000 were private donations to six families.
“This brings our total that we have raised over the last eight years to a little under $160,000,” Artz said.
“Year after year we continue to be surprised by the support of our families, the community and local businesses. We always know there is going to be that year when we are unable to meet or exceed our expectations, but fortunately for us, the continued support has enabled us today to present the Cancer Association of Darke County with a check for $23,500.”
What started as a fundraiser among a few friends, in 2010, has become an extravaganza so large, it is hard to fit in one building. Bunco 4 Boobies had its eighth annual event Sunday, March 26, at the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge, in Greenville. Artz said there were 306 registered players.
Executive Director of the Cancer Association of Darke County Christine Lynn was in tears at the generosity of the ladies and the community.
“I never cease to be amazed at the work that these girls do,” Lynn said. “Their devotion is to so many people in the county who suffer from cancer, and they have been a great help to us because of those generous donations. Those benefits, such as: transportation, medication and medical supplies, all that is affected by the amount of donations we get and we appreciate it so much.”
