GREENVILLE — Three men were sentenced Tuesday in Darke County Common Pleas Court for a variety of offenses.
Jordan Jenkinson, 24, of Union City, Ohio, was sentenced to two years in prison, with 96 days credited, after pleading guilty to an Attempted Aggravated Burglary charge, a second-degree felony.
Jenkinson was arrested by Union City Police officers in January after breaking into the Knollwood Commons apartment complex in Union City. He reportedly assaulted and demanded money from a woman there. Jenkinson has had previous run-ins with law enforcement in multiple counties.
In sentencing the defendant, Common Pleas Court Judge Jonathan P. Hein offered the possibility that Jenkinson could be released from prison to receive drug treatment at the MonDay Program in Dayton if he is found eligible. Jenkinson must also pay court costs and will be subject to community control.
Gabe Ferguson, 23, of Bradford, Ohio, avoided further jail time by pleading guilty to a fifth-degree heroin possession charge, receiving a sentence of 97 days in jail with 97 days credited. He must pay $125 in restitution and court costs.
Ferguson previously was convicted for participating in a series of burglaries in 2015. The current charge was the result of a heroin overdose at his home in August. Miami County Sheriff’s deputies reportedly revived him with multiple doses of Narcan.
Justin Powell, 41, of Greenville, was sentenced to 53 days in the Darke County Jail (with work and church release) as a result of multiple charges, including community control violations, Forgery, Theft (fifth-degree felonies) and Grand Theft of a Firearm (third degree felony).
Powell, an admitted recovering heroin addict, pleaded guilty to all counts and agreed not to contest the charges of community control violations. He must also pay more than $1,000 in restitution, court costs and perform 100 hours of community service.
