DAYTON — The Ohio Valley British Brass Band (OVBBB) is celebrating a special event on Sunday, May 7 at 4 p.m.
The brass band will be presenting its 25th-anniversary concert at the Kroc Salvation Army Center, 1000 N. Keowee St., in Dayton.
Special guest for the weekend is Stephen Bulla, internationally recognized composer/conductor and former chief arranger of “The President’s Own” U.S. Marine Band.
Bulla will be conducting four of his compositions at the concert, including a new piece, “Valley of the Adena,” commissioned by the OVBBB to be premiered at this performance.
The OVBBB will also be performing music representing the history and tradition of the band throughout its 25-year existence.
There are five members of this group who have ties to Darke County or currently live in Darke County: Doug Albright, Ted Shuttleworth, Mark Rogers and Linda Mills Holt. OVBBB Conductor Michael Gallehue is a retired Troy City School music educator and formerly was band director at Franklin Monroe.
